Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
