The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of
It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is another question, as there's only one Springfield vehicle the community is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.
What Fans Really Want
Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile the patriarch designed personally in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, players will obtain the Simpsons' standard well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the series. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics
And it's not the sole customization item from the series arriving in the game. This limited-time event will additionally feature a set of objectives to earn additional rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"
While the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's hedge-themed banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 experience points for each challenge
Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also receive wheels with a TV displaying the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
This event lines up with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of Springfield, in addition to a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
