The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Arrives, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
