Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
